Contract Awarded in Benton to Continue Bringing I-69 Corridor Up to Standards

Governor Steve Beshear announced a contract to reconstruct a KY 348 interchange in Benton in another effort to bring Julian M. Carroll Purchase Parkway up to interstate highway standards for the I-69 project.

Jim Smith Contracting Company won the more than $8 million bid to change the cloverleaf interchange into a diamond one to accommodate for interstate speeds. The project is set for completion June 30, 2016.

Beshear has initiated four other projects to bring the I-69 corridor up to standards: reconstructionof the KY 416 interchange in Henderson County is complete, while reconstruction of the I-69 Pennyrile Parkway-Western Kentucky Parkway interchange and the KY 56 interchange near Sebree are underway.
