Clarksville's Dead Birds Weren't Poisoned

By Chris Taylor

Clarksville, TN – Wildlife officials have determined what's to blame for dozens of dead birds found near Clarksville's I-24 Exit 11. Many residents became concerned about dead redwing blackbirds and grackles littering their backyards and neighborhood roads. Tennessee Wildlife Officer Dale Grandstaff tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle a toxicology lab report came back negative. He proposes the culprit to be low-lying fog, saying the birds likely ran into nearby power lines while there was low visibility.
