Clarksville Police: Three Vehicles Set Ablaze, Case Like This Not Seen in Years

The Clarksville Police Department is suspecting arson after three vehicles were set on fire in a neighborhood within two hours of each other early Monday morning.

Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says the fires started in the vehicle gas tanks. At least one fire reportedly started after a foreign object was shoved into the gas tank of a truck on Short Street.

Two other incidents within an hour were reported in vehicles on Storybook Drive and Friar Drive.

Knoll said the department hasn’t seen a case like this in years.

“Several years ago, I think we actually had where a couple of cars were set on fire in one community, so this is definitely not within the realm of normal,” Knoll said.

A police report described one vehicle as ‘completely destroyed.’

Knoll said nothing indicates a relationship between the victims. No injuries were reported.

Police have not identified a suspect but noted a ‘four-door white vehicle’ in the area of one of the fires.

Knoll said the area is not typically prone to crime.
