Clarksville Nets 300 New Jobs

Clarksville, TN – An automotive braking systems manufacturer is expanding its operations at a Clarksville, Tennessee plant, creating 300 new jobs there. After a corporate buyout, Japan-based Akebono will invest nearly $14 million to double its payroll and bring new equipment to the plant, which was formerly operated by German manufacturer Bosch. The Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board has granted Akebono a quarter million dollars in local tax abatement incentives for the next three years. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports Akebono is closing several facilities in the US and Mexico, consolidating its operations in Clarksville and at another facility in South Carolina.
