City Rejects Bids for Olivet Church Road Project

City of Paducah

Paducah city officials have hit a snag in funding the long-awaited expansion of Olivet Church Road. City commissioners rejected two bids for the project because they were too expensive.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is providing $6.2 million for the road expansion. City Manager Jeff Pederson says the lowest bid came in at 7.4 million.

“Collectively the low bid was approximately $1.4 million in excess of project monies on hand,” Pederson said.

The city is negotiating with the two bidders and working with government partners to complete the project within budget.
