City of Paducah Approves Major Software Upgrade

City of Paducah

The City of Paducah is getting a upgrade to its enterprise resource planning (ERP) software after more than 20 years. The Paducah Board of Commissioners approved the upgrade Tuesday for a more than $2,686,000 contract with Tyler Technologies.

Information Technology Director Greg Mueller says the city’s current software has been running since 1995.

The new system is expected to streamline efficiencies, improve information-sharing across departments and reduce duplicate data entry.

The first phase updates accounting, budgeting, purchasing and general ledger software. Later phases update accounts receivable, business licenses, permits, code enforcement, property tax billing, payroll, human resources, work orders, fleet management and facilities management.

The upgrade is being paid for through the city's investment fund. The costs are one-time fees of $785,740, travel expenses of $155,540 and $1,744,798 for a seven-year contract.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
