More Kentucky families now qualify for financial aid to help pay for child care, thanks to increased funding from the state Legislature and a change in guidelines.
Earlier this year, the General Assembly approved a change in eligibility requirements in the Cabinet for Health and Human Service's Child Care Assistance Program ts to follow the 2016 Federal Poverty Guidelines, rather than the requirements from 2011.
The new guidelines took effect September 1st and increase the maximum income eligibility to 160 percent of the 2016 FPG.
The change may also increase benefit amounts for some participants.
CCAP is run by the CFHS and allows parents to work or attend school as a condition of receiving cash assistance for child care programs.
