In response to legislation passed two years ago, the Kentucky Division of Water has unveiled a massive Water Health Portal.
The online tool lets the public check out the health of individual rivers and streams in Kentucky, and see whether they’re safe for swimming or able to sustain aquatic life. Before the map, all of the information was collected in biennial reports to Congress, but wasn’t very user friendly.
