Census participation thus far

By Rebecca Feldhaus

Murray, KY – Residents are beginning to return their census packets. In our region, Trigg and Graves counties lead the pack with 25 percent participation. This places them right at state average. Northwestern Tennessee citizens are not responding as quickly. Montgomery County leads the way with 9 percent, two points above the state's average. Officials estimate for every 1 percent increase in survey participation, taxpayers save about 85 million dollars nationally. Census packets were mailed out last Monday.
