A Calloway County High School student was sent to the hospital this morning after opening, then falling out of, the rear emergency door of a moving school bus.

School and law enforcement officials say that at 7:15 a.m., the bus was traveling at about 45 miles per hour approaching Southwest Calloway Elementary School along Wiswell Road when the incident occurred.

Emergency responders, law enforcement, district transportation officials and a CCHS administrator responded to the scene. The student was transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital. Other students on the bus were uninjured and were taken to their respective schools.

The condition of the student who fell is currently unknown. An investigation is ongoing.
