Calloway County Strikes Debris Deal with Paper Mill

By Chris Taylor

Murray, KY – Calloway County's debris from January's ice storm will soon be used as fuel at a Wickliffe, Kentucky paper mill. Currently the debris piled high at the city transfer station will be ground up and taken to the New Page paper mill. The company plans to burn the debris as boiler fuel. City Street Superintendent Ron Allbritten says Murray's debris alone amounted to over 1,600 tons. Decker Logging of Henry County, Tennessee will be handling the chipping process, which is expected to take about two weeks.
