Burn Permits Again Required, Now Through Spring
By Todd Hatton
Murray, KY – With autumn's return, outdoor burn permits are again required in Tennessee. The fall fire season began Saturday and lasts until May 15. The permits are free and can be obtained by calling local Forestry Division offices. There's an online list at BurnSafeTN.org. Tennessee Forestry Division information forester Tim Phelps says the permit system focuses on fire safety and helps prevent wildfires by not issuing permits during unsafe periods. Tips on how to safely use fire to burn debris are also posted on the website.
