The new WKMS young professionals volunteer group Radioheads host a one-night fundraiser and Racer basketball watch party on Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Boulders’ Smokehouse Deli & Catering at 317 Chestnut St. in Murray. Proceeds benefit WKMS, Murray State University’s public radio service, and all WKMS and Racer fans are invited to attend.
Nathanial Luffman, a member of the WKMS volunteer group and part owner/spokesman for Boulders’, has generously offered his restaurant for the event. “It’s very important for WKMS listeners to help the station financially. Our hope is that listeners will join together on Saturday to support the station, have a good meal and participate in Racer Mania,” Luffman said.
Fifteen members of the Radioheads volunteer group will serve food and bus dishes while the public radio crowd watches the MSU Racer Basketball game against Tennessee Tech.
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and the cost is $10 per person for a full meal from Boulders’ hot line. Both meat and vegetarian options will be available including Pork BBQ, Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Special Salads and Special Veggie Pizzas. The meal also includes Boulders' delicious sides, a drink and a homemade cupcake.
Funding for WKMS, the non-commercial educational radio service of Murray State, comes from individual listeners, business underwriters, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Murray State University. See WKMS programming schedules at www.wkms.org.
