The board behind the Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center Corporation (CCC) has decided to self-manage the Julian Carroll Convention Center.

This move negates a prior arrangement to let Owensboro’s LinGate Hospitality run the convention center. LinGate are developing the nearby Paducah Riverfront Holiday Inn, set to open sometime in 2017.

CCC board chairman Brian Katz says the self-management model comes out of an attempt to be more fiscally responsible.

The CCC is tasked with running the Julian Carroll Convention Center, the Paducah Expo Center and city’s Dome Pavilion, which play host to the American Quilter's Society QuiltWeek events every April.

Katz said officials with the Carson Center will provide support to the CCC until the self-management model is in place.
