Board Options Land for Career and Technical Center

By Angela Hatton

Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County Board of Education has acquired an option to buy property for a proposed vocational school. Superintendent James Stevens says the board has 90 days to decide whether it will buy the 12-acre parcel. The district has received tentative approval for a technical school to educate the county's high school students. Officials hope to model the program after similar ones in Muhlenberg and Henderson counties. The project is expected to cost seven and a half million dollars and would start in June. The school is set for tentative completion August 2011.
