Bill Seeks to Track Contracts, Work Force

By AP

Frankfort, KY – A bill aimed at tracking state contracts and the size of the state work force has cleared another hurdle in the Kentucky General Assembly. The measure won easy approval Wednesday from the Senate State and Local Government Committee and now heads to the full Senate. The bill's lead sponsor, House Minority Floor Leader Jeff Hoover, says it would bring more transparency to enable state lawmakers to track state contracts and the number of state workers. The bill would require quarterly reports from state agencies on the number of classified, unclassified and other workers, including contract employees.
