Governor Matt Bevin has consolidated eight boards into one committee overseeing regulations for the state's construction sector.
Bevin said Tuesday the consolidation saves the state money and makes it easier for the construction industry to do business.
His executive order creates the Housing, Buildings and Construction Advisory Committee. Its membership will meet at least quarterly and include a cross-section of representatives from the building and construction industry.
Bevin said the committee will remove unnecessary bureaucracy while stressing safety.
His administration said the reorganization is expected to reap about $114,600 in administrative savings, along with about $15,000 in per diem payments to members of the former boards.
