Bevin Appoints New Union Co. Judge-Executive

Public Domain, Wikimedia Commons

Following the death of its embattled former leader, Union County has a new judge-executive.

Governor Matt Bevin has appointed Adam O’Nan of Sturgis to replace Jody Jenkins who died last month from a combination of causes.

According to the coroner, the 45-year Jenkins died of pulmonary edema, an enlarged heart, and significant blockage of the coronary vessels.  He was awaiting a federal trial on charges that he used his position to solicit gifts and payments.

O’Nan is a farmer and restaurant owner.  He’ll serve until November when voters will elect a new judge-executive.

O’Nan says he plans to run for a full term.
