Beshear Announces 'Boulveard Gateway' to Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

Two new transportation projects are expected to boost Marshall County tourism and provide accessibility to Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park.

Gov. Steve Beshear was in Calvert City yesterday to announce funding for a project which will enhance and beautify U-S 62 and its interchange at Interstate 24.

The $1 million enhancement includes a landscaped median to form a boulevard-style entrance to the park.

“We will have a boulevard gateway to Kentucky Dam Village – a tremendous asset for the park, its thousands of visitors and for the citizens of Calvert City,” said Beshear, at a news conference with state and local leaders. “This project continues the substantial progress that we have made to improve transportation infrastructure throughout the Jackson Purchase. When it is completed, its benefits will be enjoyed for generations.”

The other project will cost about $3.75 million and will provide a bicycle-pedestrian path from the park to the road.

In agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Calvert City will construct 1.5 miles of the bike/pedestrian path alongside U.S. 62.

The plan is to one day connect that path with one extending from the Calvert City’s Memorial Park to provide a continuous pedestrian/bike route to Kentucky Dam Village.
