Battle of the Bands: Congratulations Gideon's Rifle

UPDATE 3/27: Congratulations Gideon's Rifle! The four finalists performed in a sold-out Maiden Alley Cinema on March 27 for the grand prize. The audience voted at the end of the night and while the votes were close among the bands, Gideon's Rifle celebrated their victory with an encore performance.

See photos from the night on our Facebook page.

They take home the grand prize, a three-day recording session at King Sound Studio including mixing and mastering ($1,200 value) and will perform live in the WKMS studio during Sounds Good (11 am - 1 pm) on Friday, April 4.

We'd like to give a shout-out and a special thanks to all four finalists, Maiden Alley Cinema, King Sound Studio, Paducah Improv, Samuel "Snacks" Hawkins, everyone who purchased a ticket to tonight's show and everyone who voted and participated in this contest. Shall we do it again in the future?

PREVIOUSLY: We tallied 865 votes, narrowing down the eight semi-finalists to the four finalists who will go on to perform at Maiden Alley Cinema on March 27 in a Battle of the Bands Contest for the Grand Prize. Thank you to 35 entries we've received from across the region for this first-ever Sounds Good Battle of the Bands Contest! We are so grateful to everyone who sent us a song.

The eight semi-finalists and two bands who were really close to making it to the semi-finals will be on a special WKMS fundraiser premium CD, which we'll have details on soon on our Gifts & Giveaways page. Public radio is all about discovering great sound and sharing it with others.

We wish all of the bands who participated the best of luck.

The Grand Prize:

A three-day recording session at King Sound Studio in Paducah, including mixing and mastering ($1,200 value), and a live studio performance on Sounds Good.
