Ballard County voters narrowly passed a property tax to support the county’s ambulance service, by just 28 votes.

The ambulance tax is 7 cents per $100 worth of property. Judge/Executive Vickie Viniard expects it to generate about $285,000. Viniard says Ballard stands to lose around $500,000 in payroll taxes if the Verso paper mill in Wickliffe closes.
