The Trahern Gallery of Austin Peay State University is hosting a BFA show by designer Stephanie Camfield featuring posters and photographs titled, "Third World America." On Sounds Good, The 23-year-old Army wife speaks with Kate Lochte about her show, which Camfield dedicates "to shedding light on issues and solutions in America."

Stephanie Camfield

Growing up in the Detroit area, Camfield says she witnessed homelessness and rampant urban decay. She took photographs and overlaid statistics, research and quotes from interviews over the photos for her collection 'Third World America.' She says she hopes to bring to light the different situations people are living in, things that tend to go unnoticed. Camfield hopes that attention and awareness is the first step towards figuring out solutions to these problems.

Camfield's husband is a helicopter pilot stationed at Fort Campbell, having recently returned from Afghanistan. After moving to Clarksville, she began attending Austin Peay State University. Her BFA exhibit "Third World America" is on display at the Trahern Gallery through Thursday, when there's a closing reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The gallery's located on 8th Street in Clarksville, near the intersection of Jackson Alley.

She'll be selling limited amounts of t-shirts and posters at the closing reception, of which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Mana Cafe local food bank.
