August 29 - Speedy Gonzales Debuts 60 Years Ago

"The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico" made his first appearance on this day in Cat-Tails for Two. A prototype for his more iconic later form, he is seen in a red shirt, running from two cats, Bennie and George. In 1999, Cartoon Network ceased to show Speedy, in an effort to clamp down on ethnic stereotypes.

It’s Thursday, August 29
