Tracy Ross speaks with MSU Director of Galleries T. Michael Martin about the exhibit, Salvador Dali Illustrates Dante’s Divine Comedy, a series of 100 prints on display in the Mary Ed Mecoy Hall Gallery and the Clara M. Eagle Main Gallery through September 15.

Martin says the Italian government commissioned Dali to commemorate the 700th birthday of Dante but had to rescind the offer because the public was unhappy they hired a Spanish artist. However, Dali was passionate about the project and completed the work.
