[Audio] Puppies Sound Good: Meet Luna

Kathy Hodge of the Calloway County Humane Society and Sherry Sherwood bring Luna in to the studio for a visit with Austin Carter on Sounds Good. Also tips on keeping pets warm during the winter.

Luna is a loving border collie/heeler mix. Sherwood describes the pup as quiet, calm, and a good house companion. She says Luna is currently fostered with dogs, cats, and horses but prefers people. Luna’s adoption profile is available at forthepets.org.

This October 22 is the Humane Society of Calloway County’s BARKtoberfest at Orscheln Farm and Home from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A $5 donation will cover activities during the event, including a doggy costume contest and a best tricks contest. There will also be animals available for adoption and microchipping available for $10.

The Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale is set for November 5 at the Weaks Community Center from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hodge says there will be gift baskets, new and like-new items, home décor and garden sections, baked goods and more.

As the weather gets colder, Hodge has some tips for keeping outdoor pets warm. She says to make sure pet houses are leak-proof and off the ground with entrances pointing away from the wind. She says it is best to use straw as bedding as hay can trigger allergies and fabric holds water. Water should also be available to pets at all times.

A proud native of Murray, Kentucky, Allison grew up roaming the forests of western Kentucky and visiting national parks across the country. She graduated in 2014 from Murray State University where she studied Environmental Sustainability, Television Production, and Spanish. She loves meeting new people, questioning everything, and dancing through the sun and the rain. She hopes to make a positive impact in this world several endeavors at a time.
