[Audio] Paducah Symphony Hosts "One of Our Most Exciting Sing-Offs Yet"

Paducah Symphony Orchestra, Facebook

Paducah Symphony Orchestra hosts the 5th Annual Symphony Sing-Off this Thursday, November 5, which Executive Director Daniel Sene says will be "one of our most exciting sing-offs yet." On Sounds Good, Tracy speaks with Sene about the fundraiser event for education programs, acapella groups from five area high schools participating and the special guest performance.

The Sing-Off was moved from spring to fall to not compete with year-end events at schools like graduation, Sene says. For their fifth sing-off, and second in the Carson Center, the guest performance in the second half is The Melodores from Vanderbilt University, champions of the NBC show The Sing Off. Some of the members will also be judges for the first half of the program.

In the first half, five local high school acapella groups compete: Paducah Tilghman High School, McCracken County High School, Ballard Memorial High School, Graves County High School and Marshall County High School. The audience will vote with their pocketbooks, he says, with monetary votes from the crowd. They'll also have a judges choice award.

In addition to the performance, PSO is hosting a pre-event dinner (sold-out) and a holiday themed silent auction. Doors open at 6:30, theatre doors open at 7, show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for students. A portion of pre-purchased adult tickets will go back to the high school choirs.

Tickets are available at the Paducah Symphony website
