On Sounds Good?, Tracy Ross and "The Voice of the Racers" Neal Bradley discuss the first two games of the season. They also preview the next couple of match-ups, including tonight's trip to Carbondale to play Southern Illinois.
Bradley says the youth of the team contributed to the Racers losing their first two games. He says the freshman and sophomore offensive line shows potential but lacks experience. In the game against Missouri State, Bradley says he was surprised to see quarterback KDHumphries with three interceptions and a red zone fumble for a total of four turnovers. On the positive side, Bradley says the defense performed well.
“But until the Racers block better up front and get a running game established, they’re gonna have continued difficulty winning ball games,” Bradley said. He adds that running back Mark Dodson has a toe injury which may keep him off the field and leave the Racers struggling.
The Racers take on the Carbondale Salukis tonight. Bradley says the team will need to exploit its speed against the bulky Salukis in order to win. Next Saturday the Racers open OVC play hosting Southeast Missouri, which Bradley calls a winnable game.
