[Audio] John Fannin Previews the 2016 Fall Fanfare Concert

Matt Markgraf, WKMS

On Sounds Good, Austin Carter and Murray State University Department of Music’s John Fannin preview the 10th Annual Fall Fanfare Concert taking place this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium.

Around 400 students will perform during the concert which features light music such as The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Star Wars Theme, Bohemian Rhapsody, Seven Bridges Road, I Can’t Stop Loving You and the MSU Fight Song. Fannin says the Fall Fanfare has a wide range of emotion and character, making it one of his favorite shows all year.

If you go hear a professional symphony play, after the first 20 minutes you go, “I got it. Symphony.’ This thing, it’s like a sharp left turn after every group, you’re gonna really hear a different sound. I think that makes it really entertaining,” Fannin said. “You’ll definitely have a good feeling when you walk away.”

Tickets are $10. Children 3 and under listen for free. All proceeds benefit MSU music scholarships.
