Arts Grants on Hiatus

By Angela Hatton

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Arts Council is suspending six grant programs ahead of a projected budget decrease in the coming fiscal year. The council faces a near one million dollar reduction for fiscal year 2011. K-A-C Communications Director Ed Lawrence says the programs will be on hiatus between July 1 of this year and June 30 of 2011. Officials hope to be able to reinstate the funds. Lawrence says the organization is not cutting any funding from the Kentucky Arts Partnership, which goes to operate several arts organizations around the state. However, he says they will be looking at ways to make these groups more efficient and cheaper to operate.
