Andy Barr Easily Maintains His Seat in U.S. House

Central Kentucky pastor Nancy Jo Kemper feels good about the congressional campaign she waged in a losing effort.  The first-time Democratic candidate believes Andy Barr’s campaign funding was too much to overcome.

Andy Barr, the GOP incumbent in the Sixth District, garnered just over 60 percent of the vote in the 19-county region.  Kemper, who’s been active in a variety of political debates in Frankfort, felt good about her showing, “I believe that it was an honest decent campaign that tried to evoke civility and to listen to all the people of the sixth district."

While overcoming incumbency is always difficult, Kemper says money was a key factor in her defeat.  She says Barr had $2.3 million to spend compared to her $450,000.
