A west Kentucky man was killed on the tracks of an oncoming passenger train early Friday morning.

Carlisle County Sheriff Steve Perry says 27-year-old Darren Lee Terry of Arlington was struck by the northbound Amtrak train within the city limits around 2:12 A.M.

The train was able to safely stop and none of the 158 passengers aboard were injured.

Perry says they’re still trying to ascertain why Terry was on the tracks in the early morning hours, but no foul play is suspected.

The train was heading from New Orleans to Chicago and was allowed to continue its journey.
