Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will likely be in Lexington next month to compete in the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland.

Following a loss in the Traverse Stakes at Saratoga, owner Ahmed Zayat  talked about retiring the horse.  Now, he is pointing American Pharoah to racing at the Breeders' Cup.

Kentucky Thoroughbred Association Executive Director Chauncey Morris admits there are few certainties in racing.

“Two months provides a bit of time on tuning up the horse, but then, also horses are living, breathing creatures," said Morris. "You just, often times have to take things day by day.”

Morris says American Pharoah’s entry into the Breeders' Cup would mean a lot when it comes to viewership and the wagering bottom line.

Morris says there is a risk that the Triple Crown champ could lose the at the Breeders' Cup.  “It’s an issue every time that a horse starts in a race," he added. "I mean the wonderful thing about horse racing is may the best horse win.  Having said that, this horse has an incredible form."

Morris says the last weekend in October at Keeneland is shaping up very well.  He says the Breeders' Cup is already sold out for an event which will cap a great year in thoroughbred racing.
