Advanced Placement Test Participation in Kentucky Doubles

www.wikipedia.com

More than twice as many Kentucky public school students are taking Advanced Placement tests, according to data released by the state education department. The AP program gives students the opportunity to pursue college-level coursework and earn credits while still in high school.

Education Commissioner Terry Holiday credits the recent statewide math and science initiative AdvanceKentucky for the increase. The program encourages students to enroll in higher level courses, including those in Advanced Placement.

The average scores of Kentucky public high school students who took the SAT in 2014 remained relatively flat.

Meanwhile, the mean scores of Kentucky public high school sophomores and juniors who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test showed slight increases overall at the sophomore and junior levels.
