$11 Million Clinic for Traumatic Brain Injury Opens at Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell is now home to one of nine medical centers specializing in treating returning service members with traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $11 million Intrepid Spirit Center was held yesterday at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky/Tennessee state line.

The Center was made possible through the $100 million Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund as is one of nine planned nationwide.

The Center anticipates treating 1,300 to 1,500 patients per year with a host of T.B.I. treatments including physical therapy, sleep medicine and psychiatric testing. The center also incorporates a therapeutic Central Park providing space for physical therapy and patients and family to spend time together during clinical treatment regiments.

The 25,000 square foot Fort Campbell center began treating patients last month.

The first two centers were dedicated last fall at Fort Belvoir, VA and Camp Lejeune, NC and have already provided care for 2,000 service members. Two additional centers are currently under construction at Fort Bragg, NC and Fort Hood, Texas.
