101st Commander Returns Home

Ft. Campbell, KY – The commander of the 101st Airborne Division has returned home to Fort Campbell, marking the end of a 15-month deployment to Afghanistan. The division split deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan starting in 2007 and more than 20 thousand soldiers have returned since the fall. Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Schloesser led combat operations for the U.S. and coaltion forces in eastern Afghanistan. The 101st Airborne has deployed at least three times since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began. Since 2007, more than 50 soldiers from the division have been killed.
