101st Airborne Commander, Staff Return to Fort Campbell Friday

The 101st Airborne Division commander and staff return to Fort Campbell Friday from a nine-month deployment in Iraq and Kuwait.

Returning soldiers are from the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division and Division Artillery.

The returning group, led by Major General Gary Volesky, served in the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. They assisted with efforts against Da’esh and increasing regional stability.

Family, friends and other soldiers hold a ceremony for the returning troops Friday at 8:45 a.m. at Fort Campbell.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
