The Department of Children's Services is reorganizing following problems that led to former Commissioner Kate O’Day’s resignation.

One of the biggest changes includes teaming with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to better train child abuse investigators.

Interim Commissioner Jim Henry says district attorneys sometimes are unwilling to prosecute a case because of problems with the investigation. Henry also says DCS is moving forward with a new process for reviewing child deaths that officials hope will be a "gold standard" for the nation.

Marshall County officials are looking for a missing 15-year-old Calvert City girl.

Sgt. Eddie McGuire with the Sheriff’s Office says Brandy Clark’s father reported her missing Monday at 2 p.m. Clark was last seen at her home around 8 in the morning. She was supposedly on her way to school, but did not show up.

Murray State University President Randy Dunn will attend an open forum today Tuesday.

The Faculty Senate and Staff Congress are hosting the special meeting from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Curris Center Theater where Dunn will answer questions.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says there's nothing wrong with waiting until the last minute to file tax returns.

Quinn says in the past he has even been guilty of coming right up against the deadline. Today is the final day to file 2012 tax returns. Quinn says paying taxes isn’t fun, but it's the price of living in a democracy.

Tennessee lawmakers trying to wrap up the General Assembly this month are hoping to push through two key education proposals.

One measure creates a state panel to authorize charter schools for five counties, and the other seeks to clear the way for cities to begin forming municipal school systems. The session began with several proposals aimed at continuing education reform in Tennessee.

Fulton County Sheriff Bobby Hopper says he suspects ammonia thefts have increased at an agricultural supplier's tank farm because the thieves sent to jail earlier are now out again.

Thefts of anhydrous ammonia have picked up at Speed Ag in Hickman. The substance is a popular farm fertilizer also used in making methamphetamine.

A 10-year old Lone Oak Elementary School student has won the Kentucky Youth Volunteer Service Award for her anti-bullying initiatives.

Morgan Guess brought the Bully movie and its director Lee Hirsch to Paducah, raised $20,000 for a foundation she started with her mother and invited author and bullying survivor Jodee Blanco to speak to 6,000 middle and high schoolers. Guess also started a Kids for Kindness social media campaign.

A Tennessee nuclear plant that began construction in 1973 is on schedule to open in December 2015. During a conference call Thursday, Tennessee Valley Authority Senior Vice President of Nuclear Construction Mike Skaggs said the Watts Bar 2 plant is on schedule and on budget at a projected cost of between $4 and $4 and a half billion dollars.
