Membership Coordinator

Jenni Todd, a native of Murray, holds a degree in Music Education from Murray State University and a Masters degree in Arts Administration from Florida State University's College of Music. Equipped with knowledge and enthusiasm for fundraising and the arts, Jenni worked in donor relations and stewardship with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra in Florida and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Ohio. She and her husband Matthew, daughter Susie, and Standard Poodle Lola reside in Murray and listen to WKMS all day, especially Marketplace at dinnertime. Jenni proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Murray Art Guild, plays the ukulele, and attempts to crochet scarves for loved ones at Christmastime.

Media Release: WKMS Spring Fundraiser Close to Goal

Murray, KY- Over 1,000 dedicated WKMS listeners and underwriters from western Kentucky, northwest Tennessee, and southernmost Illinois have raised nearly $118,000 towards a $130,000 goal in community support this spring. WKMS staff will fundraise on-air April 17 & 18 to give listeners a convenient way to meet goal by calling the station toll-free at 1-800-599-4737 or clicking “Contribute Now” at wkms.org, a secure pledge page, to make a gift.

Media Release: Students Celebrate Poetry Month on WKMS

WKMS and Murray State University’s Teacher Quality Institute have teamed up for the sixth year of a special project during April, National Poetry Month. WKMS broadcasts Poetry Minutes showcasing original poems by students in grades 3 – 12 from schools throughout the region. Poetry Minutes air at 7:19 a.m., 11:40 a.m. and 4:19 p.m. weekdays through April 30.

Non-Commercial, Educational Station WKMS Fundraising Underway

Murray, KY. Murray State’s NPR station, 91.3 WKMS is engaging listeners in the first fundraiser of 2013. The on-air portion of the fund drive begins March 6 and continues through March 16 with special guests and gifts.

WKMS Membership Coordinator Jenni Todd says, “Listeners who get in touch with us, with or without a commitment, by March 5 are included in an iPad Mini Giveaway on March 6.”

WKMS Premieres West Kentucky High Iron: The Story of Four Rivers Rail

Murray State’s NPR station, 91.3 WKMS presents the first program in its new “Sounds Good Documentary Series” with the airing of West Kentucky High Iron: The Story of Four Rivers Rail on Sunday, March 3 at 9:00 a.m.

The hour-long documentary takes listeners around the four rivers region exploring the rail industry’s history and how this method of transportation has touched people’s lives. Rail historian Cliff Downey and WKMS Producer Todd Hatton connect the segments with reflections recorded while riding the historic “City of New Orleans” Amtrak line from Carbondale, IL to Fulton, KY.

Director of Jazz Ensembles at Murray State and WKMS volunteer Dr. Todd Hill hosts Café Jazz Tuesdays from 9-11 p.m. Dr. Hill has introduced a new twenty-minute segment during Tuesday’s Café Jazz called “Chuck’s Music Shop.” The segment airs at 9:40 p.m. and the music is drawn from the personal jazz collection of the late Chuck Simons.

Listeners Exceed WKMS Fall Fundraiser and New Member Goal

Contributors to Murray State’s NPR station, 91.3 WKMS, exceeded the fall fundraiser goal of $130,000 in community support on October 31, 2012. A total of 1,104 contributions came from new and renewing donors from fifteen states.

Membership Coordinator Jenni Todd says, “WKMS set a goal of 150 new members for this fall’s membership campaign, and we are delighted to report that 175 listeners became members for the first time ever.  Our long-standing renewing contributors are pleased to know our sustaining membership is growing.”
