Notorious satirist sits down with Chad Lampe

Murray, KY – If you can remember the 1992 Democratic National Convention, you might recall a news story about a mobile confessional. Journalists thought it was news; and it was, but not for the reason they thought. Artist and satirist Joey Skaggs was just playing a joke, but one with a point. He spoke at Murray State University last night and Chad Lampe sat down with Skaggs to talk about his art and his point.

Murray State Fall Fanfare Collage Concert

Murray, KY – Murray State's student music ensembles concertize for a good cause Saturday, September 20 at 3:30 pm in Lovett Auditorium. Trumpet is Dr. Eric Swisher's teaching focus, and for this "Collage" concert, he and his colleagues concentrate on seamless staging. It's almost time for "Eye Full" of Paris Weekend

Murray, KY – Several community groups of the villages of Paris and Paris Landing are collaborating on a three day grant-supported festival of arts, music and food September 26, 27 and 28. Paris Henry County Arts Council Director, Mary Lodge and other organizers say this is the first time they've been able to build a web presence with links to preview all the performers and events. Murray, KY – Dr. Joy Navan signs copies her book "Nurturing the Gifted Female" recently published by Corwin Press, Thursday, September 18 from Noon to 2, at Murray State's Curris Center. Navan directs Murray's Center for Gifted Studies. She's taught and advocated for gifted and talented children for nearly 3 decades, and currently serves on the board of the Kentucky Odyssey of the Mind.

Sustainable farming filmmaker at WKCTC

Murray, KY – West Kentucky Community and Technical College presents the documentary "Ripe for Change" and the film's producer Jed Riffe, Friday, September 19 at 7 in the Clemens Fine Arts Center on campus in Paducah. Riffe says that ideas about sustainable agriculture and the "slow food" movement have outgrown "elitist" labels. "Ripe for Change" is the first film in the Southern Arts Federation's Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers. The producer tells Kate Lochte more about the film.
