DPA Suit Hopes to Increase Funding

Frankfort, KY – In June of last year, Kentucky's Department of Public Advocacy jointly filed a motion in the Franklin Circuit Court to redress the paltry funding for public defenders. In the face of budget cuts that threaten to cripple the criminal justice system, attorneys have asked the court to expedite the hearing. Murray, Ky – It's been one month since the devastating ice storm struck the region. More than 700-thousand Kentuckians were without power. Many still remain without power. The Federal Emergency Management Agency was summoned to help with resources initially, and now are facilitating reimbursement for civic organizations and first responders.
