Judge Gives Rapist Maximum Sentence

Benton, KY – A Marshall County judge has given a convicted child rapist the maximum jury-recommended sentence. Fifty-one year old Mark Rapone will serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole for 25 years. A jury convicted Rapone as a persistent felony in December 2009 for raping a Marshall County four-year-old. The Kentucky Attorney General's Office of Special Prosecution handled the case after a request from the local Commonwealth's Attorney.

Purchase Area Lincoln Day Dinner Draws GOP

Murray, KY – Republican leaders and senatorial candidates will be in Murray tomorrow for the Purchase Area Lincoln Day Dinner. U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield delivers the keynote address. U.S. Senate candidates Trey Grayson, Bill Johnson, and Rand Paul will present their platforms. Last year, the event drew close to 200 people from around the region.
