Underground Gas Tanks Pollute KY from Within

Louisville, KY – Some pollution you can smell or see, the fumes form a diesel powered truck, a slick of oil on the Ohio River. Some sources are less noticable, but just as insidious. As Kentucky Public Radio's Kristen Espeland reports underground petroleum storage tanks are getting renewed attention with an influx of federal stimulus dollars.

Bunning Dropout Puts Grayson Front and Center

Frankfort, KY – With the incumbent now out of Kentucky's US Senate race, the GOP field is beginning to solidify for next year's contest. Republican Secretary of State Trey Grayson, who's been testing the waters, now says he'll run for the open seat. He's not the only Republican to express interest but a strong funraising start and name recognition positions him as the frontrunner in the primary. Kentucky Public Radio's Lisa Autry has more in this report.

Quinn May Blunt Some Budget Cuts

Springfield, IL – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is hinting that some education budget cuts won't be as severe as first feared. Quinn is set to lay out today what the budget cuts will look like and where he'll try to blunt their impact.

Quinn has broad authority over the budget because lawmakers didn't spell out where it should be cut and instead gave him power over spending. He says early childhood education programs will do well.
