TVA Rates Reduced

Knoxville, TN – Lower power bills are expected as TVA begins its new fiscal year on Thursday.
The utility's board raised rates when it met last month, but reduced the fuel adjustment charge. Although that fee can now be altered monthly, the combined
result for most electricity users will be at least an initial reduction in what they pay.

Clarksville Bar Shooting

Clarksville, TN – A Clarksville, Tennessee man was arrested early yesterday morning on three charges of attempted murder. Police allege 32-year-old Charles Edward West brought a gun into a Fort Campbell Boulevard night club and began shooting at three men. The incident occurred after an argument escalated into a physical fight. All three sustained non-life threatening injuries. West is being held on a $750,000 bond.

KY Dam to Remain Closed Through November

Kentucky Dam Village, KY – U.S. 62 and U.S. 641 across Kentucky Dam will remain closed through most of November.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says in a news release that the roadway will remain closed while a contractor continues work on approaches to a new bridge across the Tennessee River and Kentucky Lake on track to open next spring.

Local Kevin Skinner Concert Pulls Large Crowd

Mayfield, KY – "America's Got Talent" winner Kevin Skinner can pull in a big crowd back home. Skinner gave a free weekend concert to a cheering hometown crowd in Mayfield before
heading out to Las Vegas to headline his new show. Some 6,000 fans cheered his every move Saturday night in the Graves County High School gymnasium. Afterward, hundreds of fans stood in line in the gym and waited for the country singer's autograph.
One even brought along a 1991 Graves County High School yearbook with Skinner's picture.

A Conversation with "Scout," Actress Mary Badham

Murray, KY – Actress Mary Badham is most famous for her role as Scout in the 1962 film version of the book To Kill a Mockingbird. For several years, Badham has been an advocate for reading and education, traveling and speaking all over the world. This weekend, Badham visited Paducah and Murray as part of the National Endowment for the Arts' "Big Read" program. She spoke with Angela Hatton.
