Burris Opens Carbondale Office

Carbondale, IL – U-S Senator Roland Burris is opening an office in southern Illinois. The Democrat will attend a ceremony to open an office in the federal building in Carbondale on Friday. Burris will also allow Southern Illinois residents to weigh in on issues in an open house. The Carbondale office will be Burris' fourth in Illinois, joining ones in Chicago, Springfield and Moline.

Wilson Appointed Pro Tem

Madisonville, KY – Hopkins County Judge-Executive Donnie Carroll has appointed Magistrate Larry Wilson to serve as judge-executive pro-tem. Carroll was hospitalized Sunday and will undergo heart bypass surgery tomorrow. Wilson will perform Carroll's duties during the judge's absence.

Another Flu Spike @ Paris Schools

Paris, TN – School officials in Henry County and Paris, Tennessee say they may be experiencing another spike in flu outbreaks. Last week, attendance at both local systems was up. This week, absentee levels are rising again. About 300 students stayed home yesterday; nearly a tenth of the systems' total enrollment. The Paris Post Intelligencer reports the school systems last week were reporting an average of 250 students absent daily.
