McCracken Courthouse Employee Arrested on Trafficking Charges

Paducah, KY – A McCracken County Courthouse employee was arrested on drug trafficking charges yesterday. 57-year-old James Alexander was recorded by Sheriff's detectives selling an inmate a painkiller pill. A subsequent search of his desk and car revealed Hydrocodone and Lortab pills in improper containers. When confronted, Alexander admitted to the transaction without incident. Controlled substance trafficking is a class-D felony and can carry up to five years in prison.

Kentucky artists awarded by Governor

Awards recipients

Frankfort, KY – The 2009 Governor's Awards in the Arts were handed out Tuesday (Oct. 6) at a public ceremony in the rotunda of the Kentucky State Capitol. Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeigh was there.

They're called the Governor's Awards in the Arts because the governor has the final say on award recipients. Lori Meadows of the Kentucky Arts Council says the awards honor individuals, businesses and organizations that make significant contributions to the commonwealth.

Stained glass, woodwork and a flautist, oh my!

Duncan Cultural Center

Greenville, Ky – Stained glass windows, fine woodwork, becoming the Pride of Muhlenberg County. A cultural center in Greenville benefits from a homecoming this weekend (Oct 9-11). Kate Lochte reports.

The Duncan Cultural Center at 122 South Cherry Street in Greenville is open for tours Monday through Friday 11 to 4. It's also available for dinner parties or other special events.
