Paducah Settles Executive Inn Liens

Paducah, KY – The city of Paducah has settled nine liens on the Executive Inn for about half their face value, bringing it closer to finalizing its purchase of the hotel. Commissioners approved paying nearly $186,000 in the settlement. Officials are expected to wrap up the deal Wednesday, as they sign documents transferring ownership. The Paducah Sun reports the city has clear plans to demolish the hotel, and is expected to begin soliciting bids next month for a company to liquidate the property's furnishings and equipment.

LBL's Trace Recognized Nationally

Golden Pond, KY – The road that runs the length of the Land Between the Lakes is now featured by a national Department of Transportation program, recognizing it as a scenic byway. The 43-mile drive from Kentucky highway 453 to Tennessee highway 49 is known as the Woodland Trace on the National Scenic Byways' web site byways.org. The national recognition could impact visitation and funding next year.

Food Stamps in Christian, Todd and Trigg

Hopkiiinsville, KY –
Food Stamp usage is up this year from previous years in Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties. The Kentucky New Era reports Christian County had the largest increase of three-thousand participants bringing it to over thirteen-thousand. Todd and Trigg Counties experienced an increase of five-hundred bringing them to around two-thousand participants. Unemployment rates remain above twelve percent for all three counties.
