Alcohol Ordinance Reveal

Cadiz, KY – The public could get their first look at the Trigg County alcohol ordinance as early as today. County attorney H. B. Quinn says officials will post the ordinance online after Trigg Judge-Executive Stan Humphries reviews it. Quinn says the final draft will likely take effect January 1, 2010. The county is still working to find out whether individual precincts can hold individual alcohol votes to reinstate prohibition.

Tutu to Speak at Murray State

Murray, KY – Murray State University will play host to world-renowned human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu next year. Tutu is the 2010 Presidential Lecture Series speaker. Beginning with his opposition to apartheid in South Africa, Tutu has worked to end racial division throughout the world. The retired archbishop has become a symbol of peace, justice, and democracy. He speaks on campus February 22.

Bowling Green musician is "Mandolin Performer of the Year"

Bowling Green, KY – A musician who spent much of his youth playing in a Bowling Green family band is the International Bluegrass Music Association's "Mandolin Performer of the Year." It's one of the highest honors a bluegrass musician can receive. Kentucky Public Radio's Dan Modlin talks with Jesse Brock of the band, "Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper."

"It Might Get Loud" at Maiden Alley Cinema

Paducah, KY – The electric guitar has held an almost mystical fascination for fans since Muddy Waters first plugged in. An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim brings us It Might Get Loud, a new documentary about the electric guitar from the point of view of three significant musicians of the last forty years. Todd Hatton spoke with Larry Thomas about this film featuring Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page playing this week at Maiden Alley Cinema in Paducah.
