Mall Planned for Oak Grove

Oak Grove, KY – The Christian County Town, Oak Grove, could soon become a regional retail hotspot. Hopkinsville realtor Dave Sturges says a group of out-of-state investors has unveiled their plans to construct a 100-million-dollar shopping mall in the north end of Oak Grove near Fort Campbell. Sturges says the group is waiting for various approvals from the city to begin groundbreaking, but he hopes that will happen sometime this year. It will take at least two more years to complete construction.

The Life of Ellis Wilson

Murray, KY – In 1899, Ellis Wilson was born to Frank and Minnie Wilson, a barber and a cleaning lady living in a black Mayfield community called "The Bottom." Raised in the midst of poverty and racism, young Wilson encountered a life in Western Kentucky that would later provide him with subject matter for his future artistic career. In his later years, he reflected upon it with a nostalgia others might not have understood.

Soldier to Stand Trial

Fort Campbell, KY – A Fort Campbell soldier begins his trial this week at the base on charges he murdered an Iraqi detainee in May 2008. Prosecutors say First Lieutenant Michael Behenna shot and killed Ali Mansour Mohammed and burned his body. Behenna is charged with premeditated murder, assault and making a false official statement. Another soldier, Staff Sergeant Hal Warner pled guilty last week and will testify against Behenna.

In a Metropolitan Mood

Murray, KY – Through Rural Business Enterprise Grants and funds appropriated by the Kentucky General Assembly, Paducah's Uppertown Heritage Foundation has restored a Jackson Street landmark. Renowned African American musicians stayed there during the era of segregation, and their music is celebrated in Saturday's Carson Center concert of the Paducah Symphony Pops Orchestra. Kate Lochte has more.

Murray, KY – Now that emergency work related to the ice storms of last January has winded down, the process of debris removal in the effected areas and the financing of that work has expanded.
