Cadiz, KY – Anti-prohibition group Grow Trigg has received support from the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission. Tourism Director Bill Stevens says he is writing a letter that states the organization officially supports the effort to bring the wet/dry issue to a vote. Grow Trigg recently announced they have 60% of the 1,800 petition signatures needed. The group plans to meet at 6:00pm next Wednesday at the West Cadiz Park.
Paducah, KY – A warrant sweep in McCracken County yielded 68 arrests yesterday. The McCracken County Sheriff's Department partnered with the U.S. Marshal Service for the second year to issue the sweeps around the county. Teams of deputies, detectives, jailers and marshals scanned the area for three days, making arrests and serving un-issued warrants. All suspects were taken to the McCracken County Jail and processed. Many were released after posting bond.
Murray, KY – Today marks the official kickoff of the FLW Outdoors Fishing Tournament. Three hundred Professional anglers are out on Kentucky Lake for the four day competition. Murray is the site for this year's catch weigh-ins and city officials expect fans to be out in force. Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lance Allison says fishing tournaments represent 35-billion dollars in annual spending in the US.
Murray, KY – Thirty-seven arrests followed a massive drug bust in Calloway County today. More than 50 police officers from agencies across the region assembled in Murray for the early morning round-up. Officers went to locations throughout Calloway County to arrest suspected drug traffickers. The arrests come after a six-month covert drug investigation involving the Kentucky State Police, Murray Police Department and Pennyrile Narcotics Taskforce. Drug trafficking investigations continue in Calloway County.
