KY Loses Bid to Land National Battery Factory

Frankfort, KY – Governor Steve Beshear says Kentucky won't get federal funds to build a battery factory that would have employed 2,000 workers. Beshear and the state's industrial recruiters had sought the grant to help finance a $600 million facility in Hardin County to build lithium ion batteries. Beshear says only about 20 percent of applicants received grants. He said the state will continue to compete for economic development projects.

Henry County Outages: Late Afternoon Update

Northwest Tennessee – About 25 homes remain without power late afternoon Wednesday after storms whipped through Henry County, Tennessee last night. At the outage's height, 2,000 of the company's 20,000 customers were without power. Crews worked through the night after strong winds knocked out several utility poles. Paris Public Utilities director of engineering and metering Bryan Irby says they expect to have power restored to almost everyone by the end of today.

Fort Campbell Soldier Dies

Fort Campbell, KY – A Fort Campbell soldier died earlier this week after an Army Physical Training Test
with his unit. Private First Class 24-year-old Marshall G. Montelus [mon-TELL-us]
of Rochester, N.Y., was an automated logistical specialist. He originally entered the
Army in March 2004 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November 2004. Base officials say his death is under investigation.

200-300 Henry County Residents Without Power

Henry County, TN – 200 to 300 hundred homes remain without power this afternoon after storms whipped through Henry County, Tennessee last night.
